Selecting the winning story was tough, but ……..

Mark Boyter and his story A KOH SAMUI SHIRT

Your $50 prize is on its way MarkIf you missed our May entries, catch up with them here.
The overall competition runs until July 31st, 2018, so there are still another 2 opportunities to enter your 500-1000 word travel stories in the June and July competitions. You can find out more here

We were down in Koh Tao scuba diving last weekend, so the winner there is particularly chuckle-worthy:

“There’s this place,” he said over dinner, and his eyes brightened. “I was there last year. Long golden beaches. Palm trees. Cocoanut and papaya milk shakes. And long skewers of barbequed shrimp,” and he held out his hands and I believed him. “Koh Samui,” he said. “In the Gulf of Thailand. Nature Bungalows. Mae Nam beach. 50 baht a night for a hut, right on the beach. You open your door and there you are. A dollar-fifty. And girls. Beautiful girls. And long skewers of barbequed shrimp,” and he held out his arms again, and I believed even more. “The night bus from Bangkok to Surat Thani, then the boat and you’re there. It’s easy.” And he looked at me. “Long skewers of shrimp…”

Well, bungalows are a great deal more than 50 THB these days …

p dir=”ltr”>… but the beaches, the shrimp, and especially the beautiful girls, yep Thailand’s still got all that, in spades. Which is why we live here these days!
