Moreover, it is one of the largest freshwater alpine lakes in the world. Sevan, or the Gegham Sea, is located in the center of the Armenian Highlands, surrounded by the Gegham mountain range.
The origin of the lake is volcanic; the water surface area is 940 sq.km. Тhe depth of Sevan reaches up to 95 meters. The main inhabitants of the lake are trout and whitefish. By all sides, the lake is surrounded by the natural reserve, the flora and fauna of which is protected by the state.
Vorotan River Gorge can be considered the most popular and most picturesque place in Armenia with confidence. The area is known for its main historical monuments and natural attractions.
Vorotan gorge, or the Grand Canyon, is located in the Syunik region. Its depth is 100 meters; in some places the width of the gorge reaches 3 km. At the edge of the gorge, there is one of the most important medieval monuments – Tatev Monastery which can be reached by the longest cable car in the world.
Trchkan Waterfall is considered one of the most impressive natural phenomena in the country. Being the highest Armenian waterfall, it got the second name “Armenian Niagara”.
The name of the waterfall is associated with the trout dwelling in the river of Chichkhan. The trout, while spawning, swim against the current and jump off the waterfall. Locals, seeing this miracle, call the waterfall “Trchkan” (jumping).
The fantastic nature of this country attracts travelers from all over the world. Just google natural corners of Georgia and you will be speechless. We won’t be able to cover all the Georgian gems in one article, but we will try to highlight the most astonishing of them. Thus let’s go:
This karst cave is located on the territory of the reserve Sataplia, near the city of Kutaisi. The reserve is known not only for a unique cave, but also for dinosaur footprints found nearby.
Sataplia Cave was discovered at the beginning of the XX century. Only 300 meters are available for visits, but the total length of the cave is more than 900 meters. For greater attractiveness, stalactites and stalagmites are illuminated with different colors. It all looks so magical.
Another unique natural landmark in Georgia is the Okatse Canyon with its wildlife. The canyon became popular among tourists after the territory received the status of a National Park.
Okatse Canyon is located in the west of the country, in Imereti, near the city of Kutaisi. The Okatse River flows through the gorge.

Lake Tobavarchkhili is one of the unique places in Georgia. The lake is not a popular destination for tourists and only those with skills can overcome the ascent of several kilometers. Nevertheless, this natural landmark is worth all the challenges.
The lake is located in Megrelia, among the Samegrelo Mountains, at an altitude of 2650 meters. The lake was formed in the crater of an extinct volcano. The water of the lake shines with silver, which is why the lake is called Silver.
Shakuransky Falls are located in the east of Abkhazia, in the Shakuransky gorge. The waterfall is a picturesque cascade of four waterfalls. The height of the cascade is 250 meters. The unique beauty of the waterfall is hidden behind the rocks. The water flows onto a cone-shaped large blue rock, which has become smooth due to water flows and resembles a stalagmite.
During the dry season, the lower niches of the cascade turn into a thin stream of water, but the uppermost part of the waterfall is always filled with warm water. The whole territory of the waterfall and the road captures with its beauty. This is the real treasure of Georgia.

The most visited are mud volcanoes in the Gobustan reserve. Volcanoes in the reserve are small and safe.
Lake Goygol is located in the west of the country, in the territory of the Goygol National Park. The lake was formed due to an earthquake that destroyed part of the gorge of the Akhsu River.
