The overall prizes for the Fred’s Blog 2018 Travel Stories Competition are out now — spoiler, the Grand Prize winner is the Koh Samui Shirt story we had a good chuckle at when it was the May winner:
What a fantastic competition we have had this year. A huge thank you to all the entrants and judges for getting involved.
The judges had a tough job selecting the winners as there were so many excellent entries. They have now completed their deliberations and I can announce the results.
3rd with a prize of $100 is Terror in the Desert – Egypt 1991 by Alison Galilian
2nd with a prize of $200 is Consequences by Lindsay de Feliz
And the overall winner with a prize of $300 is….
A Koh Samui Shirt by Mark Boyter
Many congratulations to all of you. Your prizes are on the way.
The six runners-up were:
TO MARRY A MOCKINGBIRD? by Valerie Fletcher Adolph
Poor Economy by Frank Kusy
Words of Magic by Ronald Mackay
NAVAJOSALLY and KOKOPELLI by Patricia Steele
Escaping a Gulag by Ben Stamp
Seaspray by Robyn Boswell
You can catch up with all this year’s entries via the 2018 Travel Stories page here.
Check those all out — and if a snippet fits your available writing time better, you have a couple months to get those in for a place in this year’s book:
This year’s Travel Highlights competition for entries of 50-100 words will be open from October 1st until November 30th 2018. There will be cash prizes for the Top 3. I look forward to reading all your wonderful highlights.
During the next couple of months, I will contact all contributors whose entries have been selected for the 2019 Travel Stories and Highlights book. This is due for release in December 2018.
Thanks to all of you for your continued support.
Congratulations to all the winners, and good luck to everyone writing up a highlight!
